It mainly utilizes the characteristic that the capacitive reactance of a capacitor varies for signals of different frequencies. For high-frequency signals, the capacitive reactance is relatively small, and the signals can easily pass through. For low-frequency signals, the capacitive reactance is relatively large, making it difficult for the signals to pass through. This makes the output AC signal purer and smoother.
